How to choose a lightweight folding electric wheelchair

Weight and folding. If the chair will go in and out of a car boot, every kilogram counts. Our carbon fibre Ultra-Lite Carbon range weighs 11.1 to 13.3 kg without battery and folds in 3 simple steps like a manual wheelchair. The Travelier folds automatically to the size of a suitcase.

Who will drive it. Most of our chairs use a joystick for the user. If a family member or carer will be in control, the ELFIGO Travelier is driven entirely by a Bluetooth remote, and the Ultra-Lite Carbon range and Ultra-Lite 2 can be driven from behind with an attendant controller or bracket.

Range and batteries. Quick-release lithium batteries can be charged off the chair, so you can leave the wheelchair in the car and charge the battery indoors. Choose a larger 10AH battery or a second battery for longer days out.

Can I try an electric wheelchair before I buy?

Can I use NDIS or aged care funding?

We are not NDIS approved, but we are happy to work with aged care providers and NDIS care providers on funding for your purchase. Contact us and we can help with the quotes and details they need.

Do you deliver across Australia?

Shipping is free to major cities in Australia. If you live near one of our sales agents and the agent has stock, delivery can be within 1–2 days; otherwise we ship from our HQ, which takes 7–14 days.

Can I take a folding electric wheelchair on a plane?

Most of our wheelchairs have detachable lithium batteries that can be taken on board as carry-on, subject to airline approval. Check the battery rating on the product page and confirm with your airline before you fly.

Can electric wheelchairs be used outdoors or in the rain?

They perform well on hard, relatively level surfaces such as concrete footpaths and asphalt, but not on soft or uneven ground like grass, gravel or sand. They are not waterproof, so avoid heavy rain; light drizzle for a short time is acceptable.
